Fungus

A bracket fungus eventually weakens and kills its host . It then feeds as a saprotroph on the dead remains of the tree.

Microbes in Human Body

Microbes found in :-
Ear                  -      Aspergillus
Skin                -      Candida
Small intestine  -      Clostridium
Intestines         -     Escherichia coli
Vagina             -     Gardnerella vaginalis
Stomach          -     Lactobacillus
Urethra            -     Mycobacterium
Nose               -     Staphylococcus aureus
Mouth             -     Streptococcus salivarius
Large intestine  -     Trichomonas hominis

Lignin

Lignin is extremely resistant to both chemical and enzymatic degradation , though some fungi produce enzymes which can act on lignin and lignin linked to cellulose.

Polygenic traits

Polygenic traits and Environmental factors

Human Blood Group

Human Blood Groups:
 Agglutination:

Blood Group

The rare blood group in the world is 'AB-'

Blood Group

The most common blood group in the world is 'B+' and in India it is 'O+'

Blood Group

There cannot be a parent and offspring relation between AB blood group and O

Probability in Bio

Mendel dealt with probabilities. One of the things that made his predictions accurate was that he worked with a large number of plants. He studied almost 30,000 plants over a period of 8 years and by doing so he increased the chances of seeing a repeatable pattern.

Breeds and Traits

Did you know there are over 493 dog breeds but they all belong to the same species ( Canis familiaris) ?

Bombay phenotype

This blood phenotype was first discovered in Bombay by Dr.Y.M.Bhende, is present in about 0.0004% of the human population. Individuals with the rare Bombay phenotype (hh) do not express antigen H on their red blood cells. its like they do not have both A and B antigens ( similar to O blood group ) but people with such a blood group can receive blood only from other people with the same blood group (hh) although they can donate as though they were type O.

Mendelian Inheritance

What is genetics?
ð  Transmission of genetically based characteristics from parents to off
springs is called heredity.
ð  Study of heredity is called Genetics.

About Biology

Biology is the essence of life. It is such a broad field covering the minute workings of chemical machines inside our cells, to broad scale concepts of ecosystems and global climate change. Biology also describes organisms, their functions and how species came into existence.
If u are reading biology know Biology is dynamic and ever changing , despite its general perception as dry and fixed.
Some study tips for students:-
1.Biology is not memorizing a bunch of facts from a textbook , rather a method of inquiry which is      designed to answer exciting questions and pose new ones.
2.Take notes in a separate paper and underline the key points to get most of what you read.
3.Look up the terms which are confusing in a dictionary and make sure you understand them before    you move on.
4.Write out answers to each and every question and save your answers for later study.Ask yourself  questions.
