Bombay phenotype

This blood phenotype was first discovered in Bombay by Dr.Y.M.Bhende, is present in about 0.0004% of the human population. Individuals with the rare Bombay phenotype (hh) do not express antigen H on their red blood cells. its like they do not have both A and B antigens ( similar to O blood group ) but people with such a blood group can receive blood only from other people with the same blood group (hh) although they can donate as though they were type O.
